CAMBRIDGE MEN WIN FVM!

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Congratulations to all those who competed in the Freshers’ Varsity Match.

The Cambridge Freshmen dominated with a resounding victory by over 20 points, even without a couple of their ’star’ atheltes, highlighting the continued strength in depth at the club, while the women were just edged out.

There were some encouraging and notable performances.  Special note goes to Mickael Decressac, who destroyed the match record with his first round throw of 60.22m in the Javelin, and was the joint recipient of the Achilles medal for the best match performance.

With the day’s spoils shared, the focus now shifts to the next Varsity meeting - the Field Events And Relays match - in February, which is sure to be an interesting encounter.  Of course, there’s a lot of vomit-inducing winter training sessions to get through before that though.

FRESHERS’ VARSITY: THIS SUNDAY!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

This year’s first clash with the Dark Side is upon us.  This Sunday (9th Nov), a team of Cambridge Freshmen and women travels to Iffley Road, Oxford to get their first small taste of what inspires us all, and of course, Oxford’s bad chat.

All support is welcomed, and as a large coach is heading to Oxford (leaving at 7.45am from the track), there is room for supporters.  E-mail Alex (ab614@cam.ac.uk) if you would like to come along.

There will be a post-match meal and the returning coach leaves Oxford at around 8.30pm.

Good Luck to all the Freshers,

GDBO!
